One of my intentions for next year is to start writing and drawing more adventures of Chubby. I would like to make a zine with these adventures, and I hope 2019 will be the year I finally do it!

» aprendi que sou capaz, mesmo sozinha;
» que a gestão de tempo é o segredo desta coisa de trabalhar por conta própria e em casa;

Wednesdays are not regular posting days... but this theme made sense to be approached today (deep breath) so here it goes: This month will make one year that I'm working alone at Nuts for Paper.

If it was easy? Hell no. But with time I got use to it and I adapt myself to this new reality. Sometimes I feel that I'm not into this new reality yet, but this year mark proofs me that I am. It feels that nothing happened during this year - which is a huge lie - if you read the recap that I've done about 2015 you know that a lot of things were made and achieved during this past year. And that's why is so important to keep recording the best things that happen to us... because there are those days we need to bring us up and remember the good times help.

I wanted to share three things that I've learned this year:
» I learned that I can, even alone, do things;
» time management is the holy key to be a freelancer and work from home;
» I'm not a super woman, I have bad days or sometimes when it's time to go to sleep and I didn't cross all items of my to-do list. It's ok and it's not the end of the world.

A year ago I choose this illustration of the squirrel Chubby (the squirrel that represented me) as Facebook header of the month of March. It made a lot of sense back them. So as today, but in different way.
You might have noticed as well that I haven't draw many squirrels this past year. For a time it didn't make sense to draw them. After all they were the brand mascots and each one was represent by one squirrel. I miss drawing squirrels and made up stories with them. For sure the squirrels will be back, but probably in a different format.

What's your thoughts on this past year? Did you notice any difference from years before?

A little flu turned in such big thing that I've been MIA from the virtual world for more than 10 days. All my schedule gone crazy, programmed things gone wrong, some orders were delayed, I got nervous and with a serious brain meltdown. How to get out of this situation? Keep calm and be patience (and drink loads of tea too).
Work as freelancer and from home (yes I have a studio, but my studio is on my grandma's house, so it's home too) as taught me that I must be prepared for everything (be prepared, be prepared this lesson must be shared  ♩ ♪ ♫ - if you know Hoodwinked animation film you know wich music I'm refering to, if not, you can check it here). Because unexpected things happen every week (and sometimes in every single day of the week).
I hate being away from the blog, facebook and instagram, and even more than that, I hate not being able to work in what I love the most.

But all this little rant to tell you that I'm back and on my way to coming back I merged all my blogs.
I've thinking about this for awhile now, and it's hard to keep with three different blogs at the same time. If you follow Nuts for Paper for some time now, you might have noticed that I don't share much of my personal life. I do part of blogging related group, and I asked them for their help in this situation. Some said keep your illustration and Nuts for Paper blog together and your more personal blog on the side, but others told me to but it all together. I liked the first idea, but wasn't sure about the second one... but, still, I decided to risk it and put all of them together here. You might find some things different. Feel welcome to explore. And let me know what's your thoughts about it!

Other new thing is that I closed Facebook messages on the Nuts for Paper page. I didn't feel that I was handling them properly. You can still contact me through Etsy message system or by email.

Então continuem a ler!
\\
I promised in the previous blog post that I would talk about these little special birds another time. And that time come. I thought to myself that this project deserved a whole blog post about it! Are you curious? Than keep on reading!

\\
These A6 notebooks do part of custom order made by Ana Ferreira. The goal of these 20 notebooks was to create a little gift for friends and family that at the same announce the new family member - Teresa.

\\
The illustrations gather passions from both parents - birds and travels! In terms of colours Ana gave me total freedom (she only ask me to don't use the typical pink).

\\
The notebooks we're hand sewn with blue line (in a similar tone of the bird). The inside paper is thicker (120gr) than usual (80gr). And in the first page was added a custom message announcing the arrival of the baby and thanking people for making part of their lives.

When I print the covers for notebooks that are not one of a kind, I always print a few more, just in case some accident happen. Fortunately, this time, there were no accidents - and when I was packing the notebooks I had the idea of creating with the remain prints two postcards and two book markers.

Let me know in the comments:
- what do you think of the idea of having a notebook to announce a baby's birth?
- and your thoughts on the final result of this project.
